I own a ps 4 and I was thinking about buying a used ps 3 to play the exclusive ps 3 games. I am most interested in playing Metal gear solid 4.Since I would be using the ps 3 for only one or two games, therefore, this decision is quite hard for me. I have three choices

1. Buy a new ps3 (200 Euros)
This option would cost me a lot of money but it will make sure that all games I buy will run on my console. Also, I really dont want to spend 200 euros on a console for only one or two games.

2. Dont buy a ps3
This is the current situation. I dont spend any more money and wait for the ps3 emulators to become playable.

3. Buy a used ps3 ( <= 100 Euros)
If I choose this option then I am looking at paying between 70 and 100 euros, with the 70 euro 12 gb model being the most attractive to me. I found a lot of options on this site but
I am not sure if they are reliable. Gameshoptwente and Next level are selling ps3s between 70 and 100 euros. I am worried that if
I choose a used model then it may not work at all or it may not run Or it may run but not Metal gear solid 4. Does anyone have any experience with buying used consoles from these sites ?

Do you have any advice for me ?

3. Koop een gebruikte PS3 (<= 100 euro)

Hi there, thank you for joining this awesome Dutch community! Please be aware that the moderators may not tolerate English language so if I were you I would google translate it and hope for the best.

To come back to your question, you should go for option 3. I also have a used ps3 from Gamemania and Ive never had any trouble running any games. I believe the stores you've named supply a limited warranty so you should be fine!

Cheers!

Thank you for your answer. I am leaning heavily towards buying a used ps3. So, your ps3 could run all games without problems ? You did not have any issues. Also there are 12 GB versions sometimes, I dont know if they are enough to run ps 3 games(especially games like Metal Gear Solid 4)

You should buy a Slim model(One with 120GB or 320GB) I personally am not a fan of the ultra slim models. Avoid that 12GB model as much as possible, if a game needs to install then you'll be out of space before you can snap your fingers.

Just go for option 2, don't buy a PS3.
All worthwhile games on PS3 will be remastered on PS4 anyway.

In fact, if you buy a PS3 with all it's exclusives, you might not be able to buy any actual 'new' games for PS4 in 2017!

That is quite true. A lot of good games that I bought for ps4 were remastered versions of ps3 games.

I own a fat, slim and super slim model and the super slim one is currently my main, without any issues. The looks are a little different than the others but the size and low noise production is great. My PS4 makes a hell of a lot more noise than my PS3 super slim. I know, weird comparison but I love weird comparisons.

Keep in mind that 12GB is almost next to useless. PlayStation consoles require you to install the games you want to play and Metal Gear Solid 4 required around 5GB HDD space at release, I don't know how big the updates are that came after that. 12GB is only 8,5GB effectively available. If a Game Mania store is nearby please also consider them in this, they are pretty good with second hand consoles.

Yes, I was thinking about the same thing. 12gb is not enough space for a big game. But I have also seen 60 and 80 gb versions.

But aren't they on PlayStation Now? Since you own a PS4, maybe you can subsribe and cancel after you've played the game(s) if available?

Else, don't go for the 12gb without an HDD upgrade.

I believe Gran Turismo 6 already has an install size, including patches, totalling slightly more than 20GB. A 12 GB system isn't even enough to play this single game.

Then again, if you plan to amass a collection of PS4 games, you'll want to install a 2TB HDD in the PS4 anyway - so then it doesn't matter which system you get - just get the cheapest one. Then buy a 2TB HDD for your PS4 and put the old 500GB/1TB PS4 drive in the PS3.

Thanks for your answer. The 12gb model is now out of the question. I am looking to get my console home delivered. I dont want to go to the store to buy it. Do you know any good second hand stores that deliver home or do you have any opinions about the stores that I mentioned ?

Metal gear solid 4 is not on PS Now but the service is worth looking into. Thanks, I did'nt know about that. I wish they would bring back backwards compatibility with ps 5.

Maybe Nedgame is a good option. I do agree on the fact Gamemania is a better option.

Is dat legaal?

Had ik maar allemaal modellen thuis waar ik een spelletje mee kon spelen.

As far as I know, you can play most PS3 games straight from the disc. Some games do require an installation.

I got myself an used slim model from Cex earlier this year, with warranty. The first one I got was extremely noisy, so I returned it and got a new one. Best to go for a shop with warranty instead of a potentially cheaper used model off of marktplaats. Disc-based systems are always a bigger risk to buy second-hand so I would recommend getting some warranty
Be aware that if you order one through the mail and you have to return it, the costs for postage are your own (unless specified on the seller's website). So finding one in a shop near you might be a safer bet.

I am always bothered by noisy models. But be grateful they don't come with a Chihuaha included. Those are the worst. Those models are the loudest and the Chihuaha will crap everywhere. Your best bet is indeed to get an unused model, without chihuaha, because usually the models that are used are used heavily. You never know what you might catch from handling them.

Also, new models are blissfully unaware of how much crap an average gamer will take from them, so are usually a lot less demanding and noisy.

If I remember correctly, CeX offers a very long warranty on its used products. So you could always buy one at that store if you worry about the life of a used PS3. Just make sure to buy one at a physical store and not at the web shop (which I heard sends you really awful products).

I bought a used one ultra slim 12gb at a very good price, the 12gb is really a big problem for me now. So i recommend getting a bigger size.
